Have you ever said to yourself, ‘If I only had more hours in the day!’?
We don’t need more time. We have plenty of time.
What we need is to fill our time with the things that matter the most; those things that will get us where we want to go and eliminate the rest.
Recently, I had a “reality check” of my own about this very subject.
I found myself caught up in the busy-work and not being very effective.
On the surface it looked like I was working very hard trying to grow my business and increase cash flow; along with taking of my family; taking the kids to school, cooking dinner – well most nights – helping with homework and chauffeuring each kid to their various activities.
As a business owner, mother and wife, I often times feel the mountain of responsibilities begin to weigh me down and exhaust my energy – leaving me ineffective for anyone, especially myself.
Sometimes I, too, need to be reminded.
It also means that changes need to happen and decision need to be made.
And, I did.
But, it required some personal changes that my family would have to adjust to in the process.
Here is where many women business owners get stuck.
When we are faced with making a decision so that we can have what we want, the guilt begins to surface.
You feel guilty for not financially contributing like you desire. You feel guilty for the business taking time away from the family. You question if you will really be able to make it happen.
It is not clear on what it will cost you – require you to give up. If you are like most, you are afraid of getting someone upset, bother them or cause them to be uncomfortable; especially those you love the most!
This, by the way, is one of the #1 reasons that most entrepreneurs stay stuck and are not successful in growing their business.
Being too concern with what others think.
Change is never comfortable; for you or for others.
Don’t use that as an excuse to stay where you are!
As Wallace Wattles said in his book, The Science of Getting Rich, “The very best thing you can do for the whole world is to make the most of yourself!” I agree.
What you have done up to this point has gotten you where you are. So, to get what you want – something different – you must change what you are currently doing.
It requires you to get comfortable with being uncomfortable.
The thing to keep in mind is; there is no right decision or wrong decision. There is just your decision.
Fabulous article Jo!
I couldn't agree with you more....I always tell my clients...What you are comfortable with is not necessarily what makes you happy!
